Open the NedCare App: Launch the app on your device, either on a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Navigate to Call Options: Once in the app, locate the call buttons. The round button is for normal calls.
Place a Normal Call:
Tap the round button to start a normal call.
This call will trigger an announcement on the elderly family member’s device, notifying them that you are calling.
Wait for the Call to be Accepted:
The elderly family member must manually accept the call for the connection to be established.
Communicate via Audio/Video:
Once the call is accepted, your video and/or audio will be connected, allowing you to communicate normally.
How to Make a Drop-In Call
Open the NedCare App: Launch the app on your device.
Navigate to Call Options: Find the square button, which is used for drop-in calls.
Place a Drop-In Call:
Tap the square button to initiate the drop-in call.
Unlike normal calls, a drop-in call is automatically answered on the elderly family member’s device without requiring their acceptance.
Communicate Instantly: You are now connected and can immediately begin the conversation.
Modesty Filter:
The app automatically applies a blur to the elderly family member’s video feed at the start of the drop-in call.
Over time, the video will gradually come into focus, giving the elderly family member time to adjust.
How to Start a Video Call
Open the NedCare App: Ensure the app is running on your device.
Select the Call Type:
For a normal video call, tap the round button.
For a drop-in video call, tap the square button.
Connect to the Call:
For a normal call, wait for the elderly family member to accept.
For a drop-in call, you’ll be connected automatically.
View the Video Feeds:
In portrait mode (on a phone), the elderly family member’s video will appear on the top half of the screen, and your video on the bottom.
In landscape mode, your video appears in a smaller window in the corner, while the elderly family member’s video takes up the main screen.
Reposition Your Video Feed (Optional): During the call, you can drag your video to a different position on the screen.
How to Start an Audio Call
Open the NedCare App: Launch the app.
Choose the Call Type:
Tap the round button to start a normal audio call.
Tap the square button to start a drop-in audio call.
Connect:
For normal calls, wait for the elderly family member to accept the call.
For drop-in calls, the connection happens automatically.
Communicate via Audio:
The video feed is not required for audio calls. Instead, you’ll see a static image that can be set in your profile settings.
How to Mute Your Video During a Call
During a Video Call: While on a video call, access the control panel.
Tap the Video Mute Button: Tap the Video Mute button to stop your video feed.
The elderly family member will see a black screen in place of your video.
Unmute: Tap the Video Mute button again to resume your video feed.
How to Mute Your Audio During a Call
During a Call: While on a call (audio or video), locate the control panel at the bottom of the screen.
Tap the Mute Button: Tap the Audio Mute button to mute your audio feed.
The elderly family member will no longer hear you when you are muted.
Unmute: Tap the Audio Mute button again to unmute your microphone and resume communication.
How to Start a Group Call
Ensure Group Calling is Enabled: Verify that Group Calling is enabled for your account (this can be set by your administrator).
Start a Call:
Tap the round button to initiate a normal call with the elderly family member or tap the square button to initiate a drop-in call with the elderly family member.
Wait for the call to connect.
Invite Additional Participants: Once connected, you can invite up to six additional participants to join the group call.
View Participants:
The videos of all participants will be displayed in a grid that adapts to the number of participants.
Videos are arranged automatically and cannot be repositioned.
End the Group Call: To end the call, tap the Exit Call button.
How to Use the Monitor Feature
Open the NedCare App: Launch the app on your device.
Tap the Monitor Button: Tap the Monitor button to start a one-way video call.
The elderly family member will not be notified that they are being monitored.
View the Resident’s Video: You will see a live video feed of the elderly family member, but they won’t be aware of the call.
End the Monitor Session: To stop monitoring, tap the Exit Call button.
How to Start a Movie (Streaming Services)
Use a Laptop or Desktop: The Fun (Entertainment) Panel is only available on laptops or desktop computers.
Access the Fun Panel: Open the NedCare app and click on the Fun option to access entertainment services.
Select a Streaming Service:
Choose from options like Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube, or others.
You will need the appropriate login credentials for the streaming service.
Pick a Movie or Video: Browse through the streaming platform and select the movie or video you want to play.
Play the Movie: The video will start playing on the elderly family member’s device, and you can control it remotely.
Exit the Fun Panel: To exit the Fun Panel, click the Close button.
How to Restart the Elderly Family Member’s Device
Open the NedCare App: Launch the app.
Access the More... Panel: Tap More... to access advanced controls.
Restart the Device: Tap Restart Device to perform a restart.
This will turn off and restart the elderly family member’s device.
Confirm: Wait for the device to restart and reconnect automatically.
How to Upload a Selfie for Your Profile
Open the NedCare App: Use a laptop or desktop to access the app.
Navigate to Settings: Tap on Settings.
Take a Selfie:
Select the camera you want to use under Select a Camera.
Tap Start Camera to preview the video feed.
Tap Take a Selfie to capture the image.
Upload the Selfie:
Tap Upload Selfie to upload the photo as your profile picture.
You can also upload a selfie for the elderly family member under Upload Resident Selfie.
